UPG TO LAUNCH “BATTERIES & BEYOND” RETAIL STORE & UPG DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Carrollton, T X – (Business Wire) – May 11, 2006 – Universal Power Group, Inc. (“UPG”), a wholly-owned sub sid iary of Zunicom, Inc., (OTCBB:ZNCM), announced that it plans to launch in June, “Batteries & Beyond”, a retail store, and an adjoining distribution center, based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UPG has leased an approximately 10,000 square feet facility located with close proximity to the Las Vegas Strip. The retail front, Batteries & Beyond will occupy the approximately 1,500 square feet of the facility facing South Valley View Boulevard , an easily accessible and high traffic location. The remaining space will be dedicated to operating a third distribution center, as well as accommodate additional sales efforts.

UPG’s Batteries & Beyond retail store will offer exciting and innovative merchandise that include portable power essentials, personal electronics, and related accessories. Batteries & Beyond will initially showcase UPG branded cellular phone, camcorder, cordless phone, sealed lead-acid batteries among other consumer batteries, chargers, portable power accessories, security products, and more. Product range is expected to continue to expand to encompass other fun and innovative consumer products.

The UPG Distribution Center will serve as another distribution hub to bring added cost efficiencies, further improve service to the western markets, and generate additional revenues through targeted focus.

Randy Hardin added, “Our adjoining distribution center will begin to handle more western region accounts, as well as allow for more targeted industrial and OEM sales efforts. We look forward to further expansion down the road.”
